Two-year-old girl drowns in bucket outside Meru home

Police in Kenya are investigating the tragic drowning of a two-year-old girl in Meru and the discovery of a young boy's body in River Nyando. Both incidents are currently under official investigation.

A two-year-old girl died after drowning in a bucket outside her family’s house in Ituli Village, Kabachi Location, Mutuati Subcounty, Meru county.
The toddler was reportedly under the care of her grandmother when the incident occurred.
According to police, the grandmother had briefly left the house to visit a nearby shop when the child drowned in the bucket.
Detectives visited the scene and documented it as part of the investigations.
The child’s body was subsequently moved to Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death.
