A two-year-old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle in County Limerick, Ireland. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence as police continue their investigation.

A MAN WAS arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-year-old boy died after he was struck by a jeep in Co Limerick.
The boy has been named locally as Peter Mulcaire, from Abbeycourt, Rathkeale. Friends and relatives of the boy posted photographs of him on social media and shared their sympathies and shock with his family.
The incident happened near the boy’s home shortly after 3.50apm today and gardaí say that the vehicle involved in the collision did not remain at the scene
A male motorist, who is aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested at a different location by gardaí on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
He was brought to a garda station in Co Limerick to provide a blood/urine sample and has been released pending the results of the sample.
