A two-year-old girl from Bhongir has become seizure-free after undergoing an advanced anterior temporal lobectomy at Yashoda Hospitals in Secunderabad. The surgery successfully removed the lesion causing her epilepsy, which had previously hindered her cognitive and physical development.

A two-year-old girl from Bhongir, who had been suffering from severe seizures almost every day since the age of six months, has become seizure-free following advanced epilepsy surgery at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad.
The girl was suffering despite treatment with multiple anti-seizure medications for nearly a year. The recurrent seizures were also associated with delays in her speech, physical growth and cognitive development.
She was brought to the hospital on July 26, where she underwent a pre-surgical evaluation. Brain MRI and PET-CT scans identified a small lesion in the left temporal region, close to the amygdala and hippocampus. Doctors identified the abnormal tissue as the likely source of her seizures.
