Two women lose money in online job scam in Salem

According to the police, in July 2026, a 32-year-old woman residing in Thalaivasal received a message on a social media platform regarding part-time job opportunities and receiving commission for completing trading tasks.
Believing this, the woman sent money to the tune of ₹8.53 lakh to five different accounts and while she tried to get back the money, an unidentified person asked for more money as a processing fee. Following this on Friday (August 7, 2026), she lodged a complaint with the district cybercrime police.
