Two women credited for Nigeria’s Guinness World Record
A screening of the Nollywood film Black Market in Lagos has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest film screening attendance with over 51,000 people. The event was led by female executives Damilola Osikoya and Nora Awolowo, marking a significant milestone for Nigerian film and event production.

More than 51,000 people gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, for a screening of the Nollywood crime thriller Black Market , setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening in a single location. The previous record of 43,624 was set in 2015 by the Filipino film Felix Manalo at the Philippine Arena.
A Guinness World Records official confirmed the attendance figure on-site, after which the crowd erupted into celebration, with fireworks marking the achievement. Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat was among the dignitaries in attendance.
