Rangayana Davangere has launched a two-week theatre and music training workshop for youth in Belagavi. The program aims to preserve the heritage of professional stage music and theatre by training the next generation in classical music traditions.

Ranganaya Davangere has organised a two-week training workshop in theatre and music for youth in Belagavi.
Mallikarjuna Kadakol, director Rangayana Davangere, inaugurated the workshop at the Basavaraj Kattimani Auditorium on Thursday. The two-week long course will be conducted by resource persons experienced in professional theatre and classical music.
Mr. Kadakol said that professional theatre has a rich heritage of performance, stage music and dance.
“While hindustani music is important in North Karnataka, carnatic (Dakshinadi) music tradition has grown in South Karnataka. It is against this backdrop that the term ‘Natya Sangeet Mandali’ was used in the names of previous professional theatre companies. Davangere Rangayana has already successfully organised such workshops in Davangere and Mysore with the aim of introducing the musical heritage of professional theatre to the next generation,” Mr. Kadakol said.
