The Coimbatore District (Rural) Police have launched an investigation after two tourists returning from Kerala suffered injuries in an altercation at Navakkarai on Salem – Kochi Highway on Wednesday evening, in which an assailant is suspected to have flashed a firearm.
According to the police, a group of tourists, including those working in Malaysia, went on a trip to Alappuzha in Kerala in a hired van. The tourists had an altercation with two persons near a fuel station at Navakkarai within the K.G. Chavadi police station limits around 5.30 p.m. when they were returning towards Chennai.
Two tourists, identified as Loganathan (52) and his son Ugendran (21), suffered injuries in the altercation, said the police.
