Two policemen injured in attack while pursuing suspect in rice smuggling

Two police personnel sustained injuries when a group attacked a police team from Ramanathapuram, which attempted to apprehend a suspect in ration rice smuggling near Manamadurai on Tuesday.
Officials, led by Civil Supplies Wing Tahsildar Palani Kumar, seized 3,540 kg of ration rice that was kept ready for smuggling from Karikootam ration shop near Ramanathapuram.
In this connection, ration shop employee Sathya Kavitha was suspended from service. The Civil Supplies CID Police registered a case against her and were searching for her.
Meanwhile, information was received that Sathya Kavitha was at K. Perungarai village near Manamadurai in Sivaganga district.
