Two PCPNDT Act violators detained under Goondas Act in Krishnagiri

Two individuals in Krishnagiri were detained under the Goondas Act after being caught performing illegal sex-determination tests. The arrests followed a decoy operation conducted by local police based on a medical complaint.

The provisions of the Goondas Act was invoked against two persons who were arrested under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act here on Friday.
A press release from the SP’s office said that Esther (32) of K. Mottur village of Pochampalli, and Gurumurthy (35) of Sivarajpettai in Thirupathur district were arrested in a decoy operation. The accused were caught conducting illegal ultrasound diagnostics to determine the sex of a foetus. The two were arrested by the Rayakottai police based on a complaint lodged by the Chief Medical officer of Denkanikottai hospital, Girija. The duo was arrested and remanded.
