Two men died, and three others were injured when their car crashed into a roadside tree near Kollangudi in Sivaganga district on Monday.

The victims were identified as Karthikeyan (39) and Sheik Mohammed (38), both from Sivaganga.

The police said Karthikeyan, Sheik Mohammed and three friends — Venkatasubramanian, Deva and Vigneshwaran — were travelling by car from Sivaganga to Kalaiyarkoil. Deva was driving the vehicle.

Near Kollangudi, the driver lost control of the car, which crashed into a tamarind tree on the roadside. Karthikeyan and Sheik Mohammed died on the spot.
