Two passengers were killed and six others were injured after an omnibus rammed a lorry from behind on the Chennai-Tiruchi national highway at Perambalur in the early hours of Thursday (September 3, 2026).
The police identified the deceased as P. Pon Palthurai (52) of Singampunari and K. Thirunavukarasu (32) of Manali in Thiruvallur district. Both were passengers on the omnibus.
Police sources said the omnibus was on its way to Madurai from Chennai when it rammed into the rear of the lorry that was proceeding ahead of it on the national highway at Perambalur at around 5.15 a.m. The lorry was transporting cement slabs from Tindivanam to Pudukottai.
