Two workers were killed and another was injured after a tipper lorry rammed them while they were laying cement blocks at a construction site in Samayapuram on Saturday morning.

The victims were identified as C. Ganesan, 34, and P. Aandi, both residents of Srirangam.

According to police sources, the accident occurred around 9 a.m. when the tipper lorry, which was proceeding towards Padalur, ran over the workers at the site where a petrol bunk is under construction.

The two workers died on the spot. Another injured worker, Bharathkumar, 26, of Thiruvanaikovil, was admitted to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
