Two persons were killed in separate accidents involving lorries in Avadi and Red Hills on Saturday, with one victim being trapped inside a mangled lorry cabin for nearly six hours before rescuers could retrieve the body.
Muthu, 26, a lorry driver from Tirunelveli, died after his lorry crashed into a stationary container truck on the Chennai Outer Ring Road near Pattabiram-Nemilichery, close to Avadi, in the early hours of Saturday.
The police said the container truck had broken down while proceeding from Poonamallee to Red Hills and was abandoned on the road. Muthu’s lorry rammed the rear of the vehicle, leaving him trapped inside the severely damaged cabin.
