Police said Sudalai of Azad Nagar near here had stocked the firecrackers, which are usually used during temple and the church festivals as part of the celebrations.
When these crackers exploded violently on Friday afternoon, his daughters aged 12 and 7 were seriously injured.
Police and fire and rescue services personnel rushed to the spot to douse the flame and rescue the injured girls. The victims have been admitted to the hospital.
