Two families living in Shanmuga Nagar near Sanganur Canal in Coimbatore, who have been without electricity for over 15 years, petitioned the District Collector on Monday seeking power connection to their houses.
The families do not have patta for their houses. According to residents, electricity connections were provided to some households in the locality about 15 years ago, but the two families were left out as they were either away when the connections were given or unable to afford the charges.
Priya, a mother of four, said she had been attending the Collector’s grievances redress meetings for years seeking power connection. The lack of power had affected her children’s education, she said.
