Two donation boxes have been reported stolen from CSI Holy Trinity Cathedral at Palayamkottai in the district.
According to police, the theft came to light on Sunday when church staff opened the cathedral for Sunday service. The burglars are suspected to have entered the church after breaking the glass panel of the side door and decamped with the two donation boxes..
A forensic team visited the spot and collected samples as part of the investigation, police said.
A case has been registered with the Palayamkottai crime branch, and further investigation is under way.
