Two persons died in separate accidents in Salem and Namakkal districts on Monday (August 24, 2026).

According to the police, A. Balakrishnan (55), a resident of Dadagapatti, and his wife, Nandhini (50), were crossing the Tiruchi Main Road near Gugai on Saturday evening (August 22, 2026), when a two-wheeler hit them. In the accident, the duo sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to Salem Government Hospital, but Balakrishnan succumbed to his injuries on Monday. The Annathanapatti police registered a case and arrested K. Chandran (45), a resident of Samundi Street in Maniyanoor, who rode the two-wheeler, and are investigating further.
