Two children die of poisoning in JIPMER

A six-year-old girl and her three-year-old brother, who were undergoing treatment at JIPMER, Puducherry, for poisoning, died on Saturday. The children were administered poison by their parents, who died by suicide.
Police gave the names of the children as J. Jayahiri, 6, and J. Jayaseelan, 3. The police said their parents — S. Jayaraman, 30, and his wife J. Kavya, 23, of Keezhaperambalur village had ended their lives. Jayaraman, a labourer and paralytic patient, reportedly sought a share of property from his father. The couple had a quarrel over this issue and decided to end their lives on September 19. Sources said Kavya died on September 20 at the Ariyalur Government Hospital while Jayaraman died on October 2 while undergoing treatment in Thanjavur.
