Two separate cases have been booked against Congress workers, following clash between two groups in Puttur town on September 1.
In the first plaint that was registered, complainant Congress worker Abdul Hakeem said a group of Congress workers supporting Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai heckled him in front of Puttur Press Club when he was going to address a press meet to answer the allegations made against him.
The group, in the presence of Puttur MLA, prevented him as he was leaving the press club. The complaint was registered against Udaya Patali, Junaid B.G., Isaq Salmara, Bashir Parladka, Hakeem, Bolwaru, Monu Bappaliga, Nasir Kolpe, and Praveen Acharya for offences under Sections 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 351(1) (criminal intimidation), 351(2), 351(3), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
