Why it matters
The tragic death of minors in suspicious circumstances highlights local safety concerns and the need for thorough criminal investigations.
Two brothers, aged 10 and 11, were found dead with external injuries in a well inside a private farm at Bodinayakkanur in Theni district on Saturday.
Following a complaint, the police registered a case. Superintendent of Police K.S. Praveen Gautham, Deputy Superintendent of Police Murugan and other officials inspected the scene.
The police said Chinnathambi, son of Subbiah, was living with his family on Ambedkar Street. His two sons had failed to return home from school on Friday, following which the family lodged a complaint. The police registered a missing case and launched a search.
Under such circumstances, the bodies of the two children were later found in a well inside a coconut farm. The police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.
