Two Bills to be considered in nine-day Keralam Assembly session starting October 12

The Keralam Legislative Assembly is set to convene for a nine-day session starting October 12 to discuss several new Bills and the state's revised budget. The session will also address the official name change of the state from Kerala to Keralam.
Why it matters
Legislative sessions are critical for state governance, budget allocation, and the formalization of administrative changes.
The second session of the 16th Keralam Legislative Assembly, to be held from October 12 to October 29, will consider a number of Bills, Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said on Friday.
As per the approved schedule, two Bills — the Kerala Court Fees and Suits Valuation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (Amendment) Bill, 2026 — will be considered during the session. Mr. Radhakrishnan said two more Bills are likely to come up for consideration. However, a decision on this will be taken by the House’s Business Advisory Committee, which is scheduled to meet on Monday.
The nine-day session is meant chiefly for government business.
The supplementary demands for grants for the 2026-27 Revised Budget will be tabled on October 15.
The House will not be in session from October 19 to October 23.
