Two arrested for stealing gold from grocery shop owner’s house in Maduravoyal
Two individuals were arrested in Maduravoyal, Chennai, for stealing 21 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a grocery shop owner's home. The employee, who had been living with the victim's family, allegedly stole the items over a year and sold them with the help of an accomplice.

A 20-year-old man and a woman were arrested for allegedly stealing gold jewellery from the house of the former’s employer in Maduravoyal.
The police said Selvam, 60, a grocery shop owner from Krishna Nagar, Maduravoyal, noticed on September 17 that around 21 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept in a bureau at his house were missing. He subsequently lodged a complaint with the Maduravoyal police, and raised suspicion against his employee, K. Selvam, 20, a native of Ramanathapuram district.
The accused had been brought to Chennai by Selvam in 2021 and was staying with the family while working at his grocery shop.
During the investigation, the police found that the accused had access to different parts of the house. He allegedly admitted to stealing small quantities of jewellery over the past year and handing them over to Deepika, 29, who ran a juice shop opposite the grocery store.
