Two suspects have been arrested following the violent disruption of a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates’ meeting at Nembure Grounds in Embu on Saturday.
More arrests are expected as the crackdown on those behind the chaos gathers momentum.
The unrest occurred during a meeting presided over by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and attended by senior national and county leaders, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The DCI said one person died in the chaos, several police officers were injured and several motor vehicles were torched.
Groups of youths engaged security officers in running battles before order was restored.
“Two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the incident,” the DCI said.
The agency said detectives were pursuing additional suspects linked to the criminal acts committed during the unrest.
