TVNZ aren’t done with quiz shows. Here’s what could be next
TVNZ is exploring potential new quiz show formats following the success of local adaptations like The Chase and Celebrity Tipping Point. The network is considering international formats, such as the 1% Club, to maintain high viewership in the game show genre.

TVNZ is telling audiences to “watch this space” when it comes to local quiz shows, hinting it may not be done with the format just yet.
New Zealanders competed in Mastermind and University Challenge in the ’80s and ’90s, and more than a million people tuned in to watch recent local versions of The Chase and Celebrity Tipping Point , according to Neilson.
A-list broadcasters Paul Henry and Daniel Faitaua signed on as hosts for each of those, standing in for British counterparts Bradley Walsh and Ben Shephard.
“Game shows are hugely popular for TVNZ, and we’re stoked that audiences have got behind Kiwis taking part in local adaptations too,” a spokesperson says.
