TVET diploma applicants to undergo interviews, practical assessments

All applicants seeking admission to National Technician Diploma programmes will be required to undergo interviews or practical assessments to establish whether they possess the competencies needed for the technical and vocational programmes they are applying for, the Ministry of Education and Sports has announced.
Dr Kedrace Turyagyenda, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, said the admission process for the 2026/2027 training year had commenced at diploma-level Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) providers accredited by the TVET Council.
She said all applicants will be assessed by the management or admissions committees of the institutions they have applied to.
“The management/admissions committee of the diploma TVET provider will conduct interviews and/or practical assessment of all applicants for training year 2026/27, from September 22 to 24, 2026, and the admission lists published by September 28, 2026,” Dr Turyagyenda said in a recent circular.
