TTD plans tech-enabled luggage tracking system for devotees
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is implementing a Bluetooth-based luggage tracking system to improve efficiency for pilgrims. The system will track bags from Alipiri to Tirumala, aiming to reduce wait times and enhance security.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is planning to introduce a technology-driven luggage management system to enable end-to-end tracking of devotees’ baggage while also reducing their waiting time at collection counters.
TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary reviewed the proposed system at a meeting with the Vigilance wing and representatives of GMR at the Sudharma conference hall here on Tuesday. GMR officials made a presentation on the proposed system, which uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.1 technology to track the luggage in real time from the point of acceptance at Alipiri in Tirupati to its collection by devotees at Tirumala.
Under the proposed system, devotees’ baggage will be tagged at Alipiri and transported to Tirumala by designated vehicles before being stored at the Garuda Nagar Complex (GNC). The movement of each bag will be digitally recorded and monitored throughout the process.
