TTD chairman lays foundation for Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Khammam

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has laid the foundation for a new Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Khammam, Telangana. The project is part of a broader initiative to construct temples across several Indian states with support from local government land allocations.
Why it matters
The expansion of TTD-managed temples reflects the intersection of religious infrastructure development and state-level political support in India.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is constructing Sri Venkateswara Swamy temples in several States, including Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Karnataka, TTD trust board chairman B.R. Naidu said.
In Telangana, permission has been granted for temples in Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency and Khammam, while construction of a temple in Karimnagar is expected to begin soon, he said.
Mr. Naidu laid the foundation stone for the TTD’s Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple at Allipuram in Khammam town on Monday. A bhoomi puja was performed under the aegis of Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy on the occasion. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao was present.
Mr. Naidu said the Telangana government had allocated land worth about ₹100 crore in Khammam for the TTD’s temple. Under TTD norms, local devotees are required to contribute 25% of the funds needed for temple construction, he added.
