A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Panama on Friday, damaging buildings and triggering evacuations, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).The quake's epicentre was located near the country's southern tip, around 12 kilometres west-southwest of the remote community of Pitaloza Arriba, the USGS said.A tsunami warning was issued on Friday for the eastern Pacific, but this was later lifted.Rene Garcia, the head of emergency operations at the country's National Civil Protection System, told the AFP news agency that there were so far no reported fatalities.
