Trust urges authorities to utilise Mangaladevi Bus Terminus

A local trust is urging Mangaluru authorities to operationalize a long-completed bus terminus to alleviate traffic congestion near the Mangaladevi Temple. Officials state that final road markings and safety arrangements are currently underway to prepare the facility for use.
Why it matters
This highlights common urban planning issues where completed infrastructure projects remain underutilized, impacting local traffic and public convenience.
The Ambamaheshwari Seva Trust has urged authorities make use of the twice-inaugurated Mangaladevi Bus Terminus and prevent blockade of traffic in front of the Mangaladevi Temple, especially during the 10-day Dasara starting on October 11.
In a release, the trust said there will be a marked increase in traffic on the Mangaladevi Temple Road during the Dasara festival, when a large number of devotees visit the temple. City buses presently make a U-turn in front of the temple, which causes inconvenience to other motorists and contributes to traffic congestion in front of the temple. It also increases the risk of accidents.
