U.S. President Donald Trump threatened the Islamic Republic with potential military strikes against additional nuclear facilities, stating that the U.S. may need to target the underground site known as “Mount Kolang” [Kuh-e Kolang] in Isfahan Province.
Speaking on Wednesday, September 9, at the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention in Dallas, Trump cited reports of renewed activity at the facility.
“We might have to hit Mount Kolang too, because someone said there was a little activity seen over there,” he said.
Addressing Iranian authorities directly, the U.S. President issued a stern warning: “My recommendation to them is don’t play any funny business over there, because we’re going to have to hit them very hard. We’ll have no choice.”
Trump provided no specific evidence regarding the nature of the alleged activity at Mount Kolang. Iranian officials have not yet issued an official response to his remarks.
