Trump says he deserves Nobel Peace Prize ,but doubts he will get it

U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly stated he believes he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, despite acknowledging that the committee may not favor him. He cited his involvement in various international conflicts as justification for the honor.
Why it matters
The statement reflects the current administration's approach to international diplomacy and its desire for global validation of its foreign policy efforts.
U.S. President Donald Trump, who waged war with Iran and has yet to broker peace in Ukraine, said on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) that he should win the Nobel Peace Prize but acknowledged doubt about his chances.
"I don't know what their decision is going to be," Mr. Trump said of the 2026 award, which the Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce on Friday (October 9, 2026). "They have a reputation for maybe not giving it to people like me."
Since his return to the White House last year, Mr. Trump has repeatedly said he deserves what may be the world's most prestigious award.
"It is about that time," Mr. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "But I was very honoured to receive it indirectly last time by the recipient, who said nobody in history deserves it more than President Trump."
