Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has publicly denounced the United States, labeling President Trump's signature as worthless due to alleged violations of a 14-point memorandum of understanding. Khamenei warned that Iran and its allies are prepared to respond if the U.S. continues its military escalation in the region.
Why it matters
The breakdown of diplomatic agreements and the threat of renewed military conflict in West Asia pose significant risks to global geopolitical stability and energy markets.
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday accused the United States of repeatedly violating a 14-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Tehran and Washington, saying the developments had proved that US President Donald Trump's signature was "utterly worthless and devoid of credibility".In a written message addressed to the Iranian nation, Khamenei alleged that repeated US breaches of the agreement had exposed Washington's conduct and warned that Iran would respond if military action continued."The repeated breaches of the agreement by the Great Satan [the US] regarding the MoU signed by the Presidents of Iran and the US have once again laid bare a fundamental truth: the signature of the US President is utterly worthless and devoid of credibility.
