Trump pushes US to win AI race in meeting with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez , D-N.Y., painted a grim picture of an AI-powered future Sunday, claiming that wealthy elites want to eliminate jobs, hoard resources and make Americans increasingly dependent on artificial intelligence.

Speaking at a “Students vs. Billionaires” town hall hosted by student activist group More Perfect University in Ithaca, New York, Ocasio-Cortez argued that the rise of AI could allow wealth and resources to become increasingly concentrated as the technology displaces workers.

“What the elite want, and they're already planning for it, is to hoard all of the resources for themselves as the world gets more and more physically unstable,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed. “And in an environment of AI, they want to wipe out all of our livelihoods.”
