The truck carrying cement bags nosedived into the gorge and caught fire after its brakes reportedly failed while negotiating a steep curve on the dangerous ghat road. The driver Subramani and cleaner Palani were charred to death on the spot. The dry vegetation further helped spread the wildfire into the nearby areas.
