The National Hurricane Center has extended its Tropical Storm Warning eastward to the Vermilion/Iberia Parish Line in Louisiana as Tropical Depression Five strengthened into Tropical Storm Edouard in the Gulf of Mexico Monday.

A Storm Surge Watch has also been issued for the U.S. Gulf Coast from High Island, Texas, to the Vermilion/Cameron Parish Line, Louisiana.

The Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Port Bolivar to the Vermilion/Iberia Parish Line, meaning tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within the next 24 hours or so, according to the NHC.
