Tropical Storm Bertha has formed off the Florida Gulf Coast and is moving northwest toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and a storm surge to areas from Florida to Texas by Thursday.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Bertha, which formed Monday night off Florida's Gulf Coast.
As of the 8 a.m. advisory, Bertha was located about 100 miles south-southwest of Panama City, Florida, and about 175 miles southeast of Mobile, Alabama.
It was moving northwest at 5 mph with 50 mph maximum sustained winds.
Bertha could make landfall near New Orleans on Thursday, producing heavy rain and up to a 4-foot storm surge.
