Families and sports clubs in West Auckland are mourning the loss of businessman and community stalwart Rob Teina, who died unexpectedly just days after turning 40.
Teina was deeply involved in the local sports scene, as a jiu jitsu fighter, as well as a supporter and sponsor of the sports teams his children played in.
A Givealittle page created to support his wife Violet and three young children has already attracted more than $77,000.
Teina was the owner of a plumbing business, Supreme Plumbing, based in Titirangi. It employed 10 people, some of whom had been down on their luck when he gave them a chance, a close friend told the Herald .
They said he was also a “devoted family man” who was “the most loving husband and the greatest dad to his kids”.
