Rich tributes were paid to legendary singer and ‘Bharat Ratna’ M.S. Subbulakshmi on her 110 th birth anniversary in Tirupati on Wednesday.

Several music enthusiasts, upcoming vocalists, stage performers and academicians of classical music gathered at her bronze idol installed at the APSRTC junction and offered garlands.

The scholars in the crowd sang her classical numbers as a tribute to ‘MS Amma’, as she was popularly known in the music circles. Similarly, students of the Nadaswaram department performed ‘Mangala Vadyam’.

The speakers recalled her contribution to the TTD by way of royalty amounting to crores of rupees from the Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatham and Annamayya Kirtans .
