Erode Collector S. Kandasamy paid floral tributes to the statue of former Chief Minister and Dravidian leader late C.N. Annadurai at the Thanthai Periyar–Anna Memorial on Periyar Street here on Tuesday (September 15, 2026), marking his 118 th birth anniversary.
The memorial, maintained by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Tamil Nadu Government, includes the house where Thanthai Periyar lived. Anna had stayed there while working for Periyar’s publication during his years in Erode. Several items associated with Anna, including the table and chair he used for writing, a kerosene lamp and the kitchen, have been preserved.
