Tribal documentation camp to be held in Kerala’s Nilambur on Aug. 2

A mega documentation camp is scheduled in Nilambur, Kerala, to provide essential identity documents and government services to tribal communities. The initiative aims to bridge the gap in welfare access for residents in remote forest areas.
Why it matters
This initiative addresses systemic exclusion by ensuring marginalized populations have the necessary documentation to access state welfare and health services.
A mega documentation camp to provide essential identity documents and government services to tribal communities in Nilambur will be held at Government Manavedan Higher Secondary School, Nilambur, on Sunday (August 2, 2026).
The tribal outreach initiative is part of the Vikas Vision 2040 programme being implemented in Nilambur by Aryadan Shoukath, MLA.
The camp was originally planned for July 11, 2026, but was postponed to August 2, 2026. It aims to help tribespeople living in forest and forest-fringe areas who have been unable to access welfare schemes due to lack of basic documents.
Officials said the camp would provide multiple services under one roof, including birth, caste and income certificates, Aadhaar services, bank account opening, voter ID, ration cards, MGNREGA job cards, Unique Health ID (UHID), and specialised medical examinations.
