Trial run for ‘Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme’ conducted

Tirunelveli district conducted a trial run for the 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme' across 352 schools. The initiative aims to provide nutritious meals to middle school students, expanding on existing primary school programs.

The trial run for the launch of ‘Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme’ for the middle school students was conducted in 352 schools in the district on Friday.
District Collector Anand Mohan inspected the trial run in the Government Girls’ High School and the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Manur.
During the trial run, breakfast was served to 32,734 students of 352 schools including 50 schools in Tirunelveli corporation area, 25 schools under the jurisdiction of Kalakkad, Ambasamudram and Vickramasingapuram municipalities, 58 schools in town panchayat areas and 219 schools in villages. Of this, 136 are government schools and remaining 216 are government-aided schools.
In Tirunelveli Corporation, 6,140 students of 118 primary schools including 40 municipal corporation schools and 78 government-aided schools have already been covered under the free breakfast scheme.
