The central midfield market seems to have lost run of its senses this summer.
From Manchester City's exorbitant nine-figure outlay on the tidy but hardly glittering Elliot Anderson to similarly eye watering fees quoted for other water carriers, and now with Chelsea seeking to turn back the hands of time on Jordan Henderson , things have gone a little wild.
Anderson will improve City's midfield of course, just as Henderson would help instil some sort of culture in a dressing room lacking any sort of one at Stamford Bridge, but the premium now being placed on those who do the sensible thing is more than a little baffling.
