Transport Dept. official conducts surprise inspection at Uppal RTO

Days after allegations of corruption at the Bandlaguda RTO came to light, and a subsequent Anti Corruption Bureau raid embarked upon, the Transport Department’s Vigilance and Enforcement wing ordered stricter driving licence tests and directed officials to ensure that applicants receive services without the intervention of agents or middlemen.

Joint Transport Commissioner, Vigilance and Enforcement, M Chandrasekhar Goud made a “surprise inspection” to the Uppal RTO on Wednesday. He reviewed how driving licence tests were conducted, as well as the standards of citizen services. He also sought information of the pendency of applications on the VAHAN portal and the presence of unauthorised agents on the office premises.
