A transgender woman was stabbed to death at Majestic bus stand in Bengaluru while fending off a robbery attempt on Saturday.

The Upparpet police have arrested the accused, identified as Gautham, 29, of Ramamurthy Nagar.

According to the police, Gautham arrived at Majestic on a motorcycle late Thursday night and allegedly approached the transgender woman, identified as Devi, and demanded ₹200.

When she refused, Gautham allegedly struck her on the head with a dagger. He then snatched her bag and mobile phone before stabbing her three more times.

The accused allegedly fled the spot with the mobile phone and ₹200 found in the bag. Devi died on the spot.
