Traffic around KBR Park goes one-way with 10 U-turn points and 13 exits from August 18
Traffic around KBR Park in Hyderabad is shifting to a one-way system starting August 18 to facilitate the ₹1,090-crore H-CITI infrastructure project. The plan introduces 10 U-turn points and 13 exits to manage high vehicle density during construction.
Why it matters
The project aims to alleviate severe traffic congestion in a major urban hub, though it will cause significant short-term disruption for commuters.
As many as 15,321 passenger car units per hour (PCU/Hr) move through the Jubilee Hills Check Post during peak hours, making it the busiest of the major junctions around KBR Park. To tackle the gridlock, traffic around the park will be made one-way from Tuesday (August 18) as work begins on the ₹1,090-crore H-CITI project.
The corridor’s second busiest point is the KBR Park Entrance stretch, which handles 13,516 PCU/hr. Maharaja Agrasen Junction sees 10,356 PCU/hr, while Road No. 45 and Film Nagar handle 9,966 and 9,605 PCU/hr respectively. Even the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital Junction sees 5,880 PCU/hr during peak periods.
Under H-CITI, seven steel flyovers and seven directional underpasses will be built at seven key junctions at an estimated cost of ₹1,090 crore. The project is expected to be completed in 24 months.
