The Pharma City Staff and Workers Union on Saturday staged a protest demanding a probe into industrial accidents and implementation of a rigorous safety audit across all manufacturing units in the Pharma City of Parawada, Visakhapatnam.
Ganishetty Satyanarayana, the union president, led the protest, where workers raised slogans demanding stringent safety protocols, improved protection for employees, and stringent action against managements found negligent in maintaining industry safety standards.
Addressing a gathering, Mr. Satyanarayana highlighted a series of recent incidents that he attributed to blatant negligence. Citing the case of a chemist named M. Nagaraju at Torrent Pharma, he alleged that a failure to maintain quality control on industrial chains led to a snap, causing the chemist to be struck by sulfuric acid, resulting in severe injuries.
