Why it matters
Tottenham's performance against a direct rival provides a benchmark for their progress under new management ahead of the competitive season.
Tottenham face their Premier League rival Chelsea in their next pre-season fixture on Saturday at the Accor Stadium in Sydney.
Tottenham remain unbeaten in three pre-season fixtures under new manager Roberto De Zerbi. They began preparations with a narrow 1-0 win against MK Dons before travelling to Australia.
Since arriving, Spurs have picked up another win over Auckland FC and most recently drew 1-1 with Sydney FC before securing victory in the penalty shootout.
Despite signs of fatigue within the squad, De Zerbi's side has built positive momentum and will be eager to respond after losing their last three league meetings against Chelsea.
