Tornado watch issued for London and eastern Middlesex County as severe storm approaches
Severe storms and high winds have caused widespread power outages and road closures across parts of Ontario, Canada. While tornado warnings were issued, they have since been lifted as the storm system moves eastward.

A severe thunderstorm watch and yellow heat warning remained in place for the London area as of 8 p.m. A yellow severe thunderstorm warning was also active for St. Thomas and Elgin County and areas between London and Chatham-Kent.
Thousands of people were left without power in Huron, Lambton, Oxford and Perth counties after a major storm that crossed Lake Huron from Michigan battered the region around 5 p.m.
Nearly 5,000 were offline in the Grand Bend and Lambton Shores areas, while nearly 3,500 were without power near Goderich, in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Central Huron and North Huron.
Several roads in the region have also been impacted by fallen trees and downed power lines , according to Ontario Provincial Police, including Highway 8 from Clinton to Road 140, Highway 23 near Road 165, and Perth Line 55 from Highway 23 to Road 166.
