The death toll from flash floods in Nepal rose to 768 , even as over 2,500 people remain missing, its disaster authority said on Sunday (August 30, 2026), as rescue efforts entered a fifth day. Chinese state media had earlier confirmed 16 dead in Tibet and 546 people missing. That takes the overall toll to 784 dead and 3,044 missing. Bodies have been recovered from eight affected districts as rescuers race against time to search for those missing and rescue those stranded on the fifth day since the disaster.
