The front portion of a multistoreyed building in North East Delhi’s New Seemapuri collapsed around 3 p.m. on Wednesday (October 7, 2026). While two persons have been rescued, several others including the owners of the building are feared trapped.
Delhi Fire Service and local police have begun the rescue operation. Traffic police advised people to stay away from the site due to congested lanes and heavy traffic in the area. A DFS officer said that they received a call regarding the collapse at 3.30 p.m. and rushed fire tenders to the spot and some people might be trapped in the debris.
The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) agreed to examine and take a call on hearing an application seeking a recall of a split verdict pronounced on September 23 in a case challenging the Election Commissioners’ appointments law.
